JOB SUMMARY |
Wenger is looking for a self-motivated individual who can work independently with strong self-direction. The Shop Manager will oversee shop operations, tools, equipment, fleet, and safety assets while ensuring all materials and equipment are ready to support field crews and project success. This role also includes facility upkeep, coordinating vendor repairs, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION |
- Previous experience in warehouse, shop, or equipment management.
- Knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and material handling.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic repair/maintenance skills (small engines, equipment and tools).
- Experience operating a Forklift.
- Valid driver’s license with clean motor vehicle record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION |
- Previous experience in warehouse, shop, or equipment management.
- Experience with digital inventory systems.
- OSHA knowledge and safety compliance experience.
- Ability to transport trailers/equipment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS |
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle report.
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. and work in shop, warehouse, and outdoor environments.
- Availability for flexible hours to meet company needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES |
Tools & Equipment - Oversee all company tools and equipment (e.g., roofing and construction equipment, generators, welders, scaffolding, ladders, power/hand tools).
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and in-house repairs; coordinate vendor servicing when needed.
- Track and assign tools/equipment in the company’s inventory system and maintain accurate records.
- Inspect equipment returning from jobsites to ensure safe, functional condition.
- Prepare and maintain seasonal equipment.
- Maintain service logs, warranties, and compliance records.
Material Management - Manage inventory of consumables and materials; order, check in, and check out items as needed.
- Stage and pick job orders for Flat Roofing and Service departments.
- Deliver and pick up materials for jobsites.
- Properly store and organize returned materials.
Safety Equipment & PPE - Maintain and track safety equipment
- Inspect and rotate safety gear returning from jobsites.
- Work with the Safety Director to order, track, and distribute PPE.
- Keep inspection and compliance records up to date.
Fleet Management - Work with Accounts Payable to manage company vehicles and trailers with regular maintenance, inspections, and service scheduling.
- Track fleet service records and DOT inspections.
- Coordinate vendor inspections and repairs.
- Ensure trucks and trailers are seasonally prepared.
Shop Organization & Facility Maintenance - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment (layout, labeling, and storage systems).
- Reorganize shop layout and workflow for efficiency.
- Perform light facility maintenance (e.g., changing bulbs, minor repairs, snow removal and lawn maintenance).
- Coordinate service providers for larger facility needs.
General Support - Provide back-up fabrication support and assist with custom metal orders.
- Support deliveries and pick-ups across Flat, Service, and Siding departments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
